Meet Dave
Digital Art and Animation can come from so many different places that the creative scope is endless. My training has been diverse from Natural History illustration to Graphic Design and animation and my passion for art has provided me with some amazing opportunities in my career. I have a quick and precise style that has lent itself to commissioned work for Marvel Comics, as well as illustration for children’s books. My influences come from Studio Ghibli, Pixar and Marvel which help me to bring a sense of humour and mischief into my work.
Despite the fact that technology is always changing, the traditional skills that underpin art and animation stay the same. My goal for Motion Studios is to enable our students to use their computers creatively.
I want them to learn the latest industry programs and technology in order to be able to develop their skills as artists, animators and storytellers. As well as having great fun and being able to express their creative ideas, they will learn some valuable skills which will extend their range of opportunities in the future.
Meet Joanna
My background in Fine Art and teaching blend well with Dave’s technical and creative skills. When Dave first came up with the idea of Motion Studio, I thought it was a great idea. Our 9 year old twins had been gripped by the animation bug ever since he showed them how to animate their lego. They quickly moved away from playing computer games, to creating imaginative stories and movie-clips. They both love art and were also learning to use advanced programmes to develop their skills in digital art, and as they got older 2d and 3D animation. They are responsible for a lot of our ideas, ensuring that the content of our lessons are accessible and interesting.
For me, art is about exploration and translating your visions into pieces of work. I transform my doodles into elaborate artworks, first using ink and then digital processes. Being an artist doesn’t mean that you have to limit your skills and mainstream your style. At Motion Studio, students will learn skills that will enhance their ability to create memorable and exciting pieces of work.

Meet Abby
I am passionate about animation, art and character design, and have a quirky, individual style. I enjoy passing on my enthusiasm to my students and drawing on my experience in the industry to help inspire and encourage them to develop their skills. I like to think outside the box and apply myself to a whole range of mediums.
Since completing my Animation Degree at Bournemouth, I have trained with Aardman Studio, the studio famous for Wallis and Grommit, as well working for Factory Create and Animortal as an animator. I continue to work freelance. I am also a keen pilot currently training to get my Aerobatic Pilots licence !
