We use the latest software and equipment, from Wacom tablets, Inklings and Cintiqs to IPads.
Whether it is Marvel Super heroes, cartoon characters or traditional landscapes; kids get to choose what they want to draw and develop their own style. With the use of digital drawing they can build their work up in layers, to develop a professional finished product.
As artists we teach an understanding of traditional artistic skills such as composition, colour theory, anatomy and perspective as well as the fundamentals of advanced software programs such as manga studios and Photoshop which are useful in so many areas, from graphic design to photography.
Stop frame animation can be seen in classic movies like Wallis and Grommit and Fantastic Mr Fox. It involves making stories come to life visually. Students learn the skills and techniques to transform their creative ideas into mini movie clips using lego, paper, plastercine or animatable models.
This stems from traditional hand-drawn animation, think Disney and Warner brothers. The process of drawing out each frame is still the same, though now we can produce those frames digitally using software like Toon Boom Harmony, which is widely used in the industry and a great introduction to the process.
Maya can be seen in many films such as Minions, Spiderman and Lord of the Rings. It is the industry standard for 3D animation, so students planning on getting into the animation industry will need to be familiar with it. It is also used in gaming, film and architecture.
